I would like to recommend ‘Diary of a Wimpy Kid’ to students of CMS. It is a hilarious fiction book written by the American author and cartoonist Jeff Kinney. This book is a diary about all the bad luck and misadventures of a 11-year-old boy called Greg. He is forced to keep a diary by his crazy mum who wants him to write down his feelings every day. One of the attractions of the book is the balance between words and pictures. The illustrations in the diary are a great appeal for all teenagers as well as those who have grown up with the best picture books (that’s me, haha)! Students with whatever reading ability can understand this book as it is full of funny pictures and speech bubbles which give readers the confidence to handle the words – especially when each diary entry is in short sections. So don’t hesitate, go to the library and grab it or come to me and borrow it.
